Katoz
I made this configuration but before spending more that a 1000€ II'd like to know someone else's opinion. CPU: Intel Xeon E-2224G Motherboard: Supermicro X11SCL-F PSU: Corsair RM550x RAM: 8/16gb ECC memory Storage: x2 Seagate IronWolf Pro 16TB I tried to choose a CPU-Motherboard combination that it is new enough and energy efficient but that is not the latest generation which is too expensive, that it allows me to do some light virtualization if necessary and that it can lasts for many years. This combo costs roughly 770€ new and not much less used on eBay. I choose the Corsair RM550x because, if I understand correctly, it should have a single 12v rail and it's rated 80 PLUS Gold. For storage instead I thought of starting with only 2 hard drives and gradually evaluate how much space I need, the problem is that I don't have many slots to mount them so I decided to use large drives. I found the hard drives on Amazon at 340€, this would bring the cost at approximately at 1600€. before spending all this money I would like to know if there is something to change or if that can be improved. Thanks everyone for the help Quote Link to comment
Maxrad
I like your build very much. It is very, very close to the ideal build I've been researching and planning for several months now. CPU I really like the Intel Xeon E-2xxxG series CPU for the following reasons: IGPU Intel UHD Graphics P630. Great for Plex hardware transcoding. ECC memory. Recommended for ZFS storage pools should I explore this in future. MAINBOARD I would be happy with either: AsRock Rack E3C246D4U Supermicro X11SCA-F (features M.2 slot(s) Supermicro X11SCL-F These mainboards support Intel Xeon E-2xxxG series CPU and feature IPMI. For me, M.2 is a nice feature but not essential. I expect the Supermicro X11SCL-F to be better priced and easier to obtain than the other mainboards. I think you have an excellent build factoring features (ECC, IPMI, iGPU), availability and price! I envy your build!
