Time to upgrade

I have 1x2tb as parity drive, and 2x2tb data drives (all wd20ears) which are full now

I bought a pro key and its time to upgrade

I had in the past some difficulties preclearing the drives, but after all all went well.

Running unraid 4.6, i wonder what i should do for my next hdd.

Get another wd20ears for 64 euro or go for 2tb seagate barracuda for 70 euro?

Is the seagate barracuda a good drive?

Should i still jumper/not jumper the drive? (i didnt follow the thread anymore)

thx

stijn

Take the Western Digital, - It looks so nice in your UnRaid overview!! :-)

If you can spend  0,78 € cents more you have the WD20EARX from Azerty.nl :-) It's the SATA600 version of the WD20EARS.

I have both types,, the EARX is giving me standard a lot less LCC counts (Load Cycle Count's) 408 counts for 521 Power on Hours = 0,78 per hour

In comparising to the WD20EARS : 8085 counts for 3360 Power on Hours = 2,4 per hour

Think WD changed that agressive timing for this newer series?

I have them unjumpered in 4.7 plus

mm looking to shops , it seems all 2tb hdds are around 60 euro

so, never mind what i said about the 2 models

which model should i take/ is preferred?

I'd rather not have problems like with the 20ears

Just buy the WD20EARS! :-)

The community has good experience with this WD20EARS drives

You already have them, and the prices only dropped over time

They are quiet, cheap, green, etc etc etc

From the Netherlands i presume?

Redcoon has the 20EARS for 60,5 €

and if you are willing to try something else? then try the Hitachi Deskstar 5K3000

First off I would upgrade to 4.7 since its one of the newest most stabilst builds of the 4x series. Then I would personally drop in a 2TB EARS drive jumpered or unjumpered is totally up to you of course. No matter what you use make sure you preclear it with the newest preclear script with the right switch for jumpered or unjumpered.

You can if you want pickup 1.5TB drives pretty cheap these days, but in my opinion its simply a matter of space in the case vs space on the drives. I have plenty of room in my case so depending on how much a 1.5TB vs 2TB on my next purchase will dictate what I buy. ;)

Nevermind that above thought. LOL 2TB all the way. ;)

$59 for 1.5TB

$79 for 2TB
