Advice Needed on new Cache Pools after Server Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello Guys

Looking for some help I have just updated my hardware on my Unraid server. I have enclosed an image of my old set-up and 1 of my new.
In my previous set-up I had everything going to a 500gb SSD.

I now have 2x 1 TB IVME’s that I was going to add as 2 extra pools.

I was going to have 1 1TB for the VM’s

The other 1 TB for my Data which covers torrents and Usenet Movies TV etc.

Also need to re purpose the 500gb SSD.

Please can somebody tell me how to process through this correctly?

How do I deal with current SSD and the data on it?

So I add the 500gb to a pool as well?

Looking at my shares (image added) is my idea the best way forward?

Just want to make sure I deal with the current data on the SSD correctly and to add new ones correctly so they work with the new pools.

You just need to move the data to the new pools, if you are not comfortable moving it manually you can use the mover, though with the mover it need to go to the array first.

HI

Thank you for the quick reply. My query is the SSD has everything on it from every share.
So do i just ftp and manually copy them?

I take it i stop the Dockers & VM's well i do this and point the shares to the new paths?

Also would i add the current SSD to a new pool?

Set all those shares to cache=yes, disable docker and VM services and run the mover, once done everything should now be on the array, then set the shares to cache=prefer and select the destination pool you want for each one then run the mover again.

Mover won't replace files so these files are probably already on the array. You will have to decide which to keep. You can just put them on any disk that already has the folder for the share.

Ultimately you will want to move appdata, domains, system shares back to some pool after you get that setup like you want.

Dynamix File Manager plugin is the simplest way to work with files directly on the server.
