December 11, 20223 yr After upgrading to 6.11.5 I noticed a CPU usage spike that wasn't in 6.10. Every 30s or so a CPU core would spike to close to 100% for a second and then go back to normal. top indicated that a kworker thread was the culprit. After a lot of googling I found a command to turn off kworker thread polling: echo N> /sys/module/drm_kms_helper/parameters/poll This stopped the 30s CPU spiking. My question for the Linux gurus on this forum is this: will turning off kworker polling like this affect the operation of UNRAID in any way? Thanks in advance.
January 5, 20233 yr also seeing this problem now, just after New Years... CPU spikes every 12-20 seconds lasting about 10-15 seconds. All process IDs that show high usage are "kworker" tasks -- ID's 6, 7, 9, 10, and 14. this is affecting the usability of my virtual machine as it is regularly stalling in sync with the CPU spikes... I also have a lot of this warning in my syslog: "kernel: EDID block 0 (tag 0x00) checksum is invalid, remainder is 221" that also align with the CPU spikes, it seems..
