Whats the recommend solution to single encrypted "vault" drive?

Featured Replies

Hey,

So i need to have my personal files moved from bitlocker HDD

On the unraid i can encrypt the whole array, but its not needed for movies and games and will make recovery harder.

So I added an extra 512GB SSD to use as Vault drive, i want to have it encrypted to store the documents.

should I add it to the array [im yet to create one] Can it be done, so one drive on the array has password?

Or as cache drive? [but in this case no parity protection]

or as unassigned drive [same as cache]

Thanks

You do not have to do the whole array - you can do individual drives.   However if multiple array drives are encrypted they all use the same password.

Hi,

Thats what i did, I added the 500Gb SSD to array and used XFS Encrypted, the only issue is that upon reboot when it turns on the array it wants me to enter password.

Is there any trick or plugin to have it auto-unlocked?

Maybe changing the Root user password to be the same as the HDD password?

Or a plugin?

Thanks
