December 20, 20223 yr If I use a new HDD and destroy the partition before introducting it into the Unraid build and partition it inside of Unraid, does that get me around this Pre-Clear necessity?
December 20, 20223 yr Community Expert Solution Nope, but the disk is cleared on the background, array is still available.

December 20, 20223 yr Community Expert It's needed because Unraid needs to make sure the disk is all zeroes or parity would be invalid, just being blank/no partition does not guarantee that, and if fact it won't be all zeros if the disk was ever used before.
December 20, 20223 yr Author I understand the concept behind it, it’s just very alien for anyone coming from a Linux md-raid or ZFS background.
