Trouble creating a Windows 10 VM on AMD Unraid Server.

I think i am right in saying, that the VM will not work without GPU passthrough, as the CPU does not have onboard graphics...?

It is not required to pass a GPU to a VM as one can be emulated if you are using VNC to access the VM.   You can also install Remote Desktop servers into a VM (I prefer NoMachine) to access the server.   The normal reason for passing through anGPU is for the increased graphics performance that you get.

Below are my settings used for setting up a windows 10 VM on my unraid.

First of all, all I get is this:

After this, it loads a little, then the VM just shuts down.

Do you see the press any key to boot from cd? or have you already installed windows?

also any reason why cpu is emulated not host passthru?

I was under the assumption my AMD CPU is not capable of host passthrough?

Yes i see that, i have to press that. then it moves to the window in the screenshot.

Host passthru for the cpu is ok and is the default. That is not the same as gpu passthru.

I can download a linux one to try, i dont have any currently, this is the first VM i am trying to install. I have tried in the past and been stumped by this same issue.

you could try q35 for machine type but will have to delete template and recreate
