Best option share split level for Movies

Featured Replies

Hello , im newbee with unraid.

I have small HP microserver with 4x4TB WD Reds  one SSD cache and  i have place for another one 4TB

and i will use it only for SMB  movie storage ( not for PLEX streamin  ) i will use Kodi

I have about 700 Titles of Movies all BD rips  , prox 8 - 19 GB on a title and i must transfer it to NAS.

But what is the best  share config  for the movie datebase ?

I read pool that some people make one share, and manualy make same folder (Movies) to each disk and spread movies manualy to disks.

Or i just create one share, make limit of 30 GB  and let the unraid do the job with spreading the files to the all disks ?

What split level must use ?

That's what I would do.

I have only *one* media share.

I also have only one Media share.  I do, however, use the Exclude Disks to force media files to a few drives which I do not allow to spin down.  This eliminates the delay when spinning up a disk that the Plex client will sometimes end up with a timeout error.

That my media files (Movies, 4K Movies, TV, Music) are scattered across several disks aren't an issue, for unless you are doing some sort of system maintenance/upgrade, you are typically either working with shares or some sort of software client GUI such as Plex.
