July 15, 201114 yr Hey, I'd like to build an Unraid server for my XBMC HTPC. I've got completley lost in all the information available. I want to run SABnzb, Couch Potato, Dropbox, and Sickbeard. I want to use this Fractal R3 case (was thinking the XL but now against it). http://www.ebuyer.com/product/236437?utm_source=google&utm_medium=products Can someone please reccomend me a build which will do all this? I think I'll be streaming SD and 720p via wifi.
July 15, 201114 yr I have the XL, it is amazing. Although it is HUGE! It makes all my other cases run and hide. Fractal Designs makes some quality cases. I have an asus 880gm-le in there with an unlocked amd sempron 140. seems to be working ok so far.
July 16, 201114 yr Author Any Intel i3 cpu/mb combo will be more than enough. i3 would run me 160 or so w/mobo... bit too expensive. isnt that a bit overkill for my needs? was hoping for an AMD build cheapish .. since i dont think what i'm asking the server to do is a lot. Thanks for the fractal designs recommendation. I've gone for the midi tower case (define R3) because I just dont think i will actually ever hit the 10+ HDD capacity which the XL will give i forgot I made this thread so feel a little bad but I've just posted my rough build in another thread: Hi, I'm going to order this build online tomorrow and would appreciate a quick look over to make sure everythings okay please. I'll be using this build to stream 720p video over wifi and maybe via ethernet whilst downloading using SAB, couch potato, torrent and sickbed. My main concerns are if someone could please suggest a better motherboard because I'm not sure about the one I've picked. If possible, a decent wifi card too. I'm not sure if 4GB RAM is overkill or not and if I should get DDR2 or DDR3. Thanks. OS: unRAID Case: Fractal Define R3 (80) PSU: Corsair 500w (43) CPU: AMD CPU Athlon II 250 (45) MB: Asus M4A88T-M/USB3 AMD 880G AM3 RAM: Corsair 4GB DDR3 2000MHz Dual Channel (43) Wifi Card: Edimax EW-7722ln 300Mbps Wireless (20) HDD1: 2TB Hitachi cool spin 5k3000 (53) HDD2: 2TB Hitachi cool spin 5k3000 (53) (from scan.co.uk) Thank you very much for your time and consideration. If someone could recommend a better/cheaper motherboard which would do the same thing (I think the one I've chosen is overkill), it would be much appreciated.
