July 16, 201114 yr Can anyone tell me how to transfer files faster to my unraid server... I have my windows pc gigabit Ethernet... gigabit Ethernet switch connected to unraid server .... its a core2duo with 4mb ram also gigabyte Ethernet. but my files transfer at 28 meg per sec?! I am just copying the file from my pc then pasting it to my unraid folder ( ie //tower) from within windows. btw ... I love unraid and have no issues..overall. best software i have bought in a long time.
July 16, 201114 yr okay maybe i need a cache drive ! i can do that... just read about it Also investigate using rsync to do bulk copying. rsync originated from *nix, but there are implementations for M'soft environments.
July 16, 201114 yr Keep those bits & bytes apart. While 28MBytes/s isn't bad for writes to the array over a network it would be pretty bad for reads, and 28Mbits/s in either direction indicates very bad magic. People can often infer what's meant but then again... Had a wonderfully artistic girlfriend in my youth who was less than fond of science. In conversation she would intermix the speed of sound with that of light. As in "The car that broke the speed of light." Always gave us something to talk about.

I get bursts around 35-40, but then it slows to the 28-35 after a while. I use teracopy. There are some tunings you could do, but a cache drive would help it move faster.
