Not able to re add drive to array, unable to restart array after adding drives

Featured Replies

Using Unraid 6.10.3 (unraid plus)

I'm fairly new to Unraid, and Linux (zero coding experience in linux based systems)

I had an array with a 4TB parity drive, (1 )4tb data drive and (1) 2tb data drive.  I purchased (2) 8TB drives to expand, added them to my system and they showed up in Unassigned Devices.   I precleared the 2 new drives, took my array offline and replaced the parity drive with one of the new precleared 8tb disks.  the parity was rebuilt and then checked and the system says parity is valid.  I then precleared the old parity disk and am trying to add it and the 2nd 8tb drive to my array.  They show up in the dropdown, but when I try to assign them they don't stay there.  I am also concerned that while it says my array is offline and parity is valid, I am not seeing the button to restart the array.

Diagnostic attached please help this noob figure this out.

Thank you in advance for any advice or help

Some weird Unraid driver errors, reboot and try again, post new diags if the same thing happens.

I don’t think you can add a new data drive and a new parity drive as a single step.

have you tried adding just the new (pre-cleared) data drive and starting the array to see if that sticks?   Since the drive is pre-cleared that should be quick.    You could then stop the array and add the second parity drive and then start the array to build new parity on that drive (which will take some time).

You were both right, I was looking to do too many steps at once, but rebooting after adding the parity then adding the other disks worked fine, all is good now!

Thank you
