July 16, 201114 yr so next month I am getting the last piece to get my new server up and running. It is all new hardware except the flash drive and current unraid drives. Now when I do get the last part and move my usb drive and hdd over to the new one is it just as simple as boot then assign the drives acording to the previous unraid? parity old=parity new disk 1 old=disk 1 new disk 2 old=disk 2 new ect old=ect new old being the old build new being the new build.
July 16, 201114 yr Yes, it is easy. Take a screenshot so you can have a reference if needed to assign the drives correctly. You probably will not need the reference because unRAID will indicate which drive goes where. Set BIOS to use the flash.
July 17, 201114 yr Author since I bought the 2 pack key I have an extra key for the pro version. If I put in a new flash and still asign the drives correctly will there be an issue?
July 17, 201114 yr You would need to copy the config directory from your old flash to your new one to maintain the prior array, user share, and other settings. If you don't do this, your array will need to be freshly defined and parity rebuilt.
