Replacement motherboard...same model...Unraid fails to start:( Samba winbindd -D

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just replaced the motherboard in my server with an identical model...same bios revision...same settings.

Unraid boot seems to hang at the Samba winbindd -D prompt

I have attached logs below.... It appears to me that everything starts as normal but then fails without saying why!

If anyone has a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated....not entirely sure that the logs attached are the relevant ones so if others are required please reply and I'll add them!

Many thanks!

It does boot in safe mode...no-gui but not in safe mode-gui

Does it boot no-gui (not SAFE)? Did your previous mobo boot in GUI mode?

  • Author

It doesnt boot in no-gui (not safe) ...yes it always booted in GUI before!

How did you get syslog to post it? Can you get diagnostics?

  • Author

Unfortunately I cant get to diagnostics but when I do a graceful shutdown the logs are written to the usb key which is where I have got the ones I posted...there's a bunch more as well but I can see anything in there that points to an obvious fault!

How do you do that?

A short press of the power button on my box initiates a graceful shutdown

You could get diagnostics from the command line, don't know if they would tell us anything useful.

Do you have a current flash backup?

I found a file in /config called vfio-pci.cfg

Renaming that to .cfg1 to stop it trying to run seems to have allowed me to boot once more into the GUI

It looks to be a plugin for pci passthrough...

Hope this helps someone one day!

That is in your first post so you were on the right track. Should have thought of that. Looks like you may have had some passthru on the old mobo that didn't work on the new one despite being the same model.

Actually this is Tools - System Devices, with checkboxes for passthru
