Creating shares and Split level question

Featured Replies

I just got my server built and now I am trying to create shares. I have read through the manual and the forums and I still am confused about creating shares. I am looking to create the following:

Movies            TV Shows          Music                            Photos

Rated R

Rated PG 13

Rated PG

Rated G

Then actual movie folders

The question I have is do I create the top level share for each (Movies, Music, Photos) and then under Movies how do you create the directories. Is it just done in network places, create ne folder?

I currently have only created the Movies with the following specs:

User shares

    Share name:  Movies

Comments:

Allocation method:  High-water

Min. free space:  20000000

Split level:  2

Included disk(s):  disk1,disk2,disk3,disk4

Excluded disk(s):

Export (SMB):  Export read/write

Export (NFS):

The movies folder only shows up on disk1 and does not show up on any other disk. Did i do something wrong?

thanks

You did nothing unRAID will create the directories as needed on the other disks. High-water allocation will not use a second disk until the high water limit is reached (50% of the largest disk.)
