July 20, 201114 yr My $4 offer X 2 cables was rejected on the $6 auction, just accepted on the $5.50 auction! 4 x 4.25 = $17 accepted
July 20, 201114 yr Author Ha! He turned down my 4 x $4.00.... Guess that extra .25 cents made the deal.
July 20, 201114 yr He accepted my 2 x $2.00 and I've already paid. Maybe because I'm in CO which "borders" his state.
July 20, 201114 yr Obviously this seller does't have a real minimum-price. Mikechy bought them for me at 5.5 dollar each for me, but i'am happy he would help me and ship them to Belgium Now i got 4 pieces with international shipping for the price of 1 cable over here. Thank you all UNRAID community !!! ;D
July 20, 201114 yr So, which add-on cards can these cables be used with? I guess a whole bunch of raid-jbod card's with a mini sas connector on the card itself. (But not all card's are compatibel with Unraid) for users who need a connection from the controllercard (Mini-SAS) to 4 single SATA drives or a hotswap cage with a traditional SATA connector (NOT backplane like in the big 19 inch RACK Norco's) in case of UNRAID this would be the popular Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 card (2 mini sas connectors ) also the newer one AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 has these connectors (is this one already available?) http://www.supermicro.com/products/accessories/addon/AOC-SAS2LP-MV8.cfm this one? IBM ServeRAID BR10i PCI-Express SAS RAID controller EDIT: 19 inch RACK NORCO's
July 20, 201114 yr Thanks guys. I have iStarUSA backplanes with standard SATA connectors. EDIT: Raj, are all of those LSI/Clones able to use the 8087 cable in this thread? It's not listed in the thread you've linked.

July 20, 201114 yr So NOT suitable for use on the Norco SS-500? Absolutely suitable for the Norco SS-500, as all forward breakout cables are.
July 20, 201114 yr Okay, I was confused my Rembro's comment, "for users who need a connection from the controllercard (Mini-SAS) to 4 single SATA drives or a hotswap cage with a traditional SATA connector (NOT backplane like in the big norco's)."

By big Norco's i meant those 19 inch rackmountable cases, they have an internal backplane for all those 20 or 24 drives and this is another connector.

July 21, 201114 yr LOL. Looks like he flips a coin on the best offers. It seems that way doesn't it. Maybe he could only do 1st class with two cables and had to do much more expensive priority mail with 4 cables. Who knows. An extra 8 drives will hold me over for a super long time, so this is all I'll get.

I have a rackmount Norco 4020 (20 drives) with a backplane that can accept these cables.
July 21, 201114 yr Some of the large Norco server cases use standard SATA connections, while some do not. It depends on the actual model.
July 21, 201114 yr Author I just got my first 2 cables I bought for $6.00 each. The postage was regular first class in a large envelope and the shipping was $1.88. Adding in the price of the large envelope which has to be near $1.00 (it's padded). If he sold 2 for $2.00 his gross profit would have been about $1.00 which CAN'T even cover the cost of the 2. I have to think he must have a box of these things that fell off of a truck The new Supermicro card will be showing up today so I'll put these new babies to the test. Rembro, yours should be showing up in the next few days and I'll let you know when I drop them in the mail.
July 21, 201114 yr Adding in the price of the large envelope which has to be near $1.00 (it's padded). Bubble mailers aren't nearly that expensive. If you buy them in bulk they're only $0.20 to $0.30 depending on size and QTY ordered. But still, that doesn't leave much left over for profit.

That was my thought also, he has got a big box from somewhere and does'nt know exactly what's worth it and happy with the few cents/dollars he earns with it. Not to forget the percentage for Ebay. @Mikechy, Thanx for the info. You don't have to rush anything , i don't even have the controllers for it yet. The last time i had something sent over from the US it took 10 to 12 days. a big box with two C2SEE's shipped with Fedex.
July 21, 201114 yr Author New Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 came and I got everything including a replacement mobo (ASUS P5BV-C) in place. As soon as it posted I hit CTRL-M and went in to the controller card and DISABLED INT13 and let it restart. UnRAID booted (much faster with new mobo) and I logged into the admin. Assigned the drives where they needed to go and it's rebuilding parity now. So far so good... Couldn't be happier with the deal on the cables or how unRAID handles new hardware.
July 25, 201114 yr I'm testing one of these connected to AOC-SASLP-MV8 right now doing a parity sync. Looking good.
July 25, 201114 yr I got my two in the mail Saturday. They look good. Can we chop off that 8-pin connector? I'm assuming it's for drive activity LED's.
