Will Unraid automatically move data to a different disk when disk allocation is changed in share properties?

If I change disk allocation in a share's properties, will Unraid automatically move existing data to the newly allocated disk?

No. ย  Unraid never automatically moves files between array drives. ย  Changing Share properties only applies to where new files are placed, existing files are not affected.

Thanks - how should I move existing data to the share on the newly allocated disk?

The Unbalance plugin is a common tool for that.

I recently lost data using Unbalance, even after a successful dry run, so I'm a little wary. Can I simply use Krusader or File Manager to copy/move files that remain on the 'old' disk after allocating a different disk to that share?

Sure as long as you only go between /mnt/diskX andย /mnt/diskY, not mixing /mnt/user with /mnt/disk
