Stuck half way into setup

Featured Replies

I am setting up UnRaid and have gotten it to boot and IFCONFIG seems to indicate I have IP address ok. There must be another step to get it working. I can not log in from another system. It does not show up as Drive in Network. I know nothing about Linux. Are there basics I need that I am assumed to know? I have an IP address of 127.0.0.1 but can not  get it to work. Setup instructions said to start setting up shares I this system wants something else first.

Help appreciated.

Thanks

Bob Howell

The address you gave, 127.0.0.1 is an alias for the local machine.  It exists on every computer as a shortcut way to reference itself.

You do not yet have an IP address assigned by your router.

Most of the time, this is because you did not establish a network connection... usually if somebody gets this far, the reason is that the network card driver module was not loaded from the flash drive because the software could not find the flash drive.

The usual reason it cannot find the flash drive is because you did not set the volume label on the flash drive to

UNRAID

Put the flash drive back in your windows machine, right click on it in file-explorer open its properties and set the volume label to UNRAID as described in the set-up-instructions.  Then try again booting it your unRaid server.

If my guess was wrong about the label, let us know and we'll get some more info from you to figure things out.

I could only get to Tower.com when entering Tower in Browser. Logged onto router and found Tower attached at IP 192.168.1.2, so entered that and now I'm in.

Make sure the Workgroup name on the Settings page matches your local workgroup name.
