Can't get unraid to boot - ECS 945GCT-M/1333

Featured Replies

I purchased a pre-loaded usb stick from the website, and can't seem to get the os to launch at all.  Motherboard is ECS 945GCT-M/1333.  System boots into bios, recognizes that the usb drive is available to boot from (no other drives installed) and then apparently attempts to boot from the stick before failure.  The light on the usb drive flashes once and then I get a message of "Error Loading Operating System" and the machine just sits there.  I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what the problem is.  Help please.

I'll chime in here, this board does work with unRAID I am using it right now.  I had to downgrade to version 4.0 before it would work without choppy dvd playback.  Try to hit F8 when you first turn on the computer and it will let you select from a list which device to boot from.  I can tell you a kingston 1gb datatraveler will work.

Could you take a minute to speak to what your bios setup is?  I've messed with every option and the same results.  Are you using a dual core cpu?  Does unraid work with dual-core/core duo cpu?  I'm completely lost.  I tried setting up a second usb drive from scratch and the results are the same.  Ack.  I even tried booting a different machine (intel d975xbx) from both usb drives, and the same results.

Argh.  Can someone please give me some guess?  The USB stick that I bought will not boot on any machine that I can find.  Neither will either of the other 2 that I created.  What could I possibly be doing wrong??

nevermind, I got my intel board to start.  Apparently you can't force the ECS board to treat usb like fdd
