July 28, 201114 yr Yea, lets get the IRC channel back on board. Get some Ops/Bots going to protect the channel and that will be HOME for some of us.
July 28, 201114 yr Author 16 favorable votes after 9 days isn't exactly the enthusiastic response I was hoping for. Still, there seems to be at least a small contingent who are interested in this project. It seems the popular consensus is that we start with just re-establishing an IRC channel and then take it from there. I have no idea how to go about doing that. Anyone with more experience want to spearhead this first step?
July 29, 201114 yr There is really no energy to have it running. I use to have bots running when I had my Jetski channel but it has been so long I forgot most of how to get everything going. I probably can read up on it this weekend if time permits.
July 30, 201114 yr Information dispersal is always a good idea. The forum usually does have all the answers somewhere, and usually via a tome of reading, unfortunately. A question, being unfamilar with IRC channel, is there any bandwidth issue for those of us out in the sticks with only dial-up or satellite internet service?
July 30, 201114 yr IRC is text based chat so it uses very little bandwidth. I used it all the time on dial-up without any issues. Channels can also be logged and that log placed into a searchable index.
