January 30, 20233 yr Hi all, Setting up an unraid for the first time, everything works and is set up on the server but now I'm having a connection issue in getting the license activated. I can connect to it on my local setup but I (think) am looking for advice on how to connect or allow my unraid connect to my network to activate my license through the wifi on my local pc. My current setup is home router is connected on wifi to my local main PC machine, my PC machine is connected to a local router in my office and connected to that router are two NAS machines, one unraid and one synology. Is it possible to allow the traffic from the unraid server (and the synology I guess) through my local router and through my local PC to connect to the wireless I'm connected to? Currently set up this way for a myriad of reasons, it's not ideal but I am also moving in the near future so it'll do for now until my next place where things will connect a little more directly/correctly) anyone got any ideas or dealt with something like this before? thank you for any help , tried googling for this but the results keep pushing for things that are not what I'm looking for so if anyone can even provide the words i should be looking at on google to find the right thing thatd be really helpful thank you
January 30, 20233 yr Community Expert Why are these both routers? Normally, one of these would be setup as an access point to the other router so they would all be on the same network and all be able to reach the internet.
February 13, 20233 yr Author 100% thought I replied to this, ended up going down so many roads i wrecked my computers ability to communicate and spent a week just unwrecking it to get to a point of working again. I am finding that when the internet is coming through on the wifi on my machine it is causing colossal screw ups in what communications take precedence over ethernet and vpn connections on the machine. I found so many ways to connect my machine but then not have internet access, or connect it and not have vpn access, or have vpn and internet but no access to the tower. Even when i reset all IP's manually, remove the dhcp pool on the router, reprioritise the connections on the pc, I just can't get a good grip on it. instead i bought a little dumb switch and im going to try that instead of the router. should be here in 5 days ill try again then.
