January 31, 20233 yr So i have been using unraid for the last 2 years, no real issues. i currently run 1 - 14TB Exos (Parity) - 7200rpm 2x 14TB Exos - 7200rpm 1x 10TB - 7200rpm 1x 8TB - 7200rpm 3x 6TB 5700rpm With these drives the 3 14tb and the 10tb are new(ish) and not throwing up any errors I have used the Tweak plugins, parity check tuning, docker safe perms, and other type plugins to help. Prior to about 2 weeks ago my parity checks lasted 28 hours on a 14TB. Seems to have started after i plugged in a ssd for cache drive and lately tho the parity check says its speed of 1.8MB/s and take 180 days to complete. I checked the diskspeed and nothing pops up that would entail this being a problem. I got no errors on the disks. My CPU on the other hand runs at a tight 98% usage during this period of check and when its not checking it still seems to run max. Is the CPU slowing up the parity check at all? My Server specs: Amd FX-8320E 8 Core 16GB Ram. Now i did purchase a server to replace this one, hoping to get better results. I bought a Dell Poweredge R730xd 12LFF with 2x 12 Core cpu and 64GB Ram. Can anyone help me with this and figure out whats going on?. Diagnostics are attached. Im not sure what to be looking for. tower-diagnostics-20230130-1829.zip Edited January 31, 20233 yr by LordBeekz Deleted some info that wasnt needed to clean up the post
January 31, 20233 yr Community Expert Solution Connection problems with parity disk. Shutdown, check connections, power and SATA, both ends, including splitters. Reboot and try again.
January 31, 20233 yr Author If connection problems with cables, i may just wait til the new server comes in this week and full swap the disks.
January 31, 20233 yr Community Expert Look at all the ata3 entries in syslog from system/lsscsi.txt in diagnostics, ata3 is [1:0:0:0] disk ATA ST14000NM001G-2K SN03 /dev/sdd /dev/sg3 state=running queue_depth=32 scsi_level=6 type=0 device_blocked=0 timeout=30 dir: /sys/bus/scsi/devices/1:0:0:0 [/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:11.0/ata3/host1/target1:0:0/1:0:0:0]
