double quotations not working

So, I have kind of a silly but annoying problem I can't seem to solve.

In my VMs (both Linux and Windows), the double quotation marks are not working. Whether I type a single or double quotation mark (the latter via shift), it only ever prints a single quotation mark on screen, after hitting space.

The keyboard settings of the VM in Unraid, as well as of the host and VM OS are all set to English-US layout, which is what I have.

I cannot find any more settings to tinker with and Google is of no help either. Can someone help?

 

PS: my host OS is Windows 11, on which the double quotations marks are working as expected.

    Chrome (Android)
    1. Tap the lock icon next to the address bar.
    2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
    3. Adjust your preference.
    Chrome (Desktop)
    1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
    2. Select Site settings.
    3. Find Notifications and adjust your preference.
