July 22, 201114 yr Hi there I have sabnzbd, sickbeard and couchpotato installed on my server and noticed that when unpacking my download speeds drop dramatically. I have a 100mb home connection so I usually download at 10-12mb/s but when unpacking its drops to like 2mb/s. If anybody knows if its possible to fix this please let me know. Thanks in advance
July 22, 201114 yr Without knowing more about your setup, it's hard to troubleshoot. Unpacking requires a good amount of CPU and RAM. Also, are you using a protected disk or your cache? Ideally, you want a beefy processor, ample RAM, and utilize a disk outside of the array. That will maximize your download and unpacking speed.
July 22, 201114 yr Author Sabnzbd and other apps are on a 1TB WD Black Cache Drive, and I have a i3 530 and 4GB DDR3 Ram. I can see as high as 6mb/s when unpacking I just want it to stay the same unpacking or not. Thanks
July 23, 201114 yr * Increase the RAM cache (I think I use -1 which means as much RAM as it wants). * Reduce the number of download threads to reduce disk thrashing. How many are you using? Or increase them if you are using a low number (say 4, for example). * Unpack to a different drive -- download to /mnt/cache, unpack to /mnt/disk1 for example.
