Advice for reorganizing shares after adding larger drives

Featured Replies

My server was built with 4 8TB drives (3 data + parity) and I have finally run out of space.  Other than the cache only stuff, everything has been added to all drives using the high water method.  I've added a 16TB drive (cache upgraded to 16 too) and now have 3 full 8TB drives and an empty 16TB.

I'm looking to rearrange some shares to gain the ability to spin down a disk or two for infrequent uses.  I can do this at the share level.

What's the best way to move a share such as "Media" from Disks 2, 3, & 4 to Disk 6 only?  And then continue to have new writes to that share only appear on Disk 6?

The end goal is have infrequently used shares on drives that spin down and have commonly used shares on a drive or two that never stops.

Unbalance plugin is what I suggest.  Then set desired shares to only use disk 6 in the share settings.
