Very soon "2.2.0" will be an official release. - Other changes to unRaid integration with netatalk. - Upgrade linux kernel to 2.6.39.3. As you might know 2.6.39.x is the end of the line for the 2.6 series, and 3.0 has already been released, but I'll hold off on that one for a bit Hopefully this will fix a "kernel oops" problem some have reported when they Stop the array. - Use the Realtek "r8168" ethernet driver instead of the linux "r8169" driver. In the past I have not been able to use the Realtek driver from their support site because it wouldn't build correctly with linux kernel being used with unRaid. But lo and behold, it does build correctly with 2.6.39.3, so let's see if this solves the slow write issue with Realtek NIC's. - Added a couple drivers per request, and UDF file system support per request. As always, if you're running -beta, please upgrade to this release, and if you notice an issue, please include a system log in your post. Quote Link to comment

I don't have Lion just yet, but if you google "Lion SMB" and you'll see there are all kinds of issues with Lion accessing Windows shares and Samba shares. Supposedly Apple has developed their own replacement for Samba called "smbx": http://www.itproportal.com/2011/03/28/apple-replaces-samba-mac-osx-10-7-lion/ The "-SMB" suffix is just the smb service being advertised by AVAHI. Please try Finder's "Connect to Server" dialog and use "cifs" or "smb" as the protocol, e.g.: cifs://tower and report back the results of this. Quote Link to comment

Almost persistent. A file that gets moved from the Cache disk to the array will end up with a different inode numbers, and when afpd encounters this file, it will update it's DB. Same thing would happen if you move the order of the array disks. For example, suppose an AFP-exported share uses disk1 and disk2; if you move or reassign those disks to be say, disk3 and disk4, then all the inodes numbers will appear to have changed to AFP, and again, afpd will update the DB. But in looking at the netatalk code, the CNID's of the files should remain the same. Edit: I think it's important to be precise here - what afp stores in it's DB are inode numbers. These are the values returned in the struct stat st_ino field. Quote Link to comment

At the moment I have to compare code for each of the files, takes a while to do. Just a thought Also, I see you're now using the Official build of Netatalk, not the open source version? I upgraded to 5.0Beta10 (stock). upon startup, array came back with valid configuration, checked all the disks, they all came back "MBR: 4K-aligned". Started array, waited for unRAID to auto spin-down all drives, succeeded. Copied a large file from one disk to another (faster response using a windows box and steady 60MB from beginning to end). Once copy completed. I stopped the array, succeeded. Started the array, succeeded. Clicked spin-down, succeeded. Click stop array and got a "oops". There is a difference this time. The GUI is not hung, and came back showing array is "started" still, and all options available to me. Also the flash share is accessible as well, were Beta 7-9 would hang the GUI and the flash share was not accessible. I ran the command 'cp /var/log/syslog /boot/syslog.txt' grabbed the syslog off the flash to post (to large had to zip). Once I clicked stop a second time, GUI hung, flash no longer accessible to me. Added: Looking at it now, seems that it "oops" twice Disk19 & Disk20 (in the past once it oops once I beleve that was it, it hung.) Also would like to understand "md: 4 devices still in use." Also would like to understand "md: 4 devices still in use." Yes this is same bug we've been chasing since -beta8. This is almost certainly a linux bug, so I'll be posting this onto the linux kernel development mailing list to see if anyone has any insight there. Trouble is, I can't reproduce so might need your assistance with this. The 'devices still in use' is happening because the bug is causing unmount to fail, and if disks are still mounted, the md driver can't be stopped. Quote Link to comment

I don't have Lion just yet, but if you google "Lion SMB" and you'll see there are all kinds of issues with Lion accessing Windows shares and Samba shares. Supposedly Apple has developed their own replacement for Samba called "smbx": http://www.itproportal.com/2011/03/28/apple-replaces-samba-mac-osx-10-7-lion/ The "-SMB" suffix is just the smb service being advertised by AVAHI. Please try Finder's "Connect to Server" dialog and use "cifs" or "smb" as the protocol, e.g.: cifs://tower and report back the results of this. If you remove the -SMB prefix from the service file, smb works from the finder sidebar. Unfortunately AFP is then no longer available in the sidebar. Connect to server works as it did before and even works with the -SMB prefix. This is using 5.09. Quote Link to comment
