can access some shares but not others - same user restrictions

just bought a new mini which comes preloaded with lion (had been running an old mini with leopard on - not even snow leopard) but you don't get a choice with the new ones.

anyway, managed to log into one of my user shares 'backups' using 'go to server' in finder and typing in smb://ip address/backups. 'tower' showed up in my places and double clicking shows my other user shares - TV, movies, photos etc. but I can't double click to open these, it says 'the operation can't be completed because the original item TV could not be found'

Likewise if I go to finder and 'connect to server' and type in the SMB address for those, it says 'you do not have permission to access that folder'. Current username on the mini (and password) is one that is registered as a user on unraid, all shares have that user against them. Confused mainly by why I can connect to 'backups' but not the others when the settings are identical against them?

never mind, I am a muppet. Checked the rules and I had the TV, movies etc set to 'read only' with my username as an exception. but my username wasn't in the 'valid users'. Added it and it worked.
