4.7 vs 5 and upgrading in the future

Featured Replies

what would be the main advantages for me? I just use 2TB disks and store/stream videos.

also does upgrading mean I have to format and lose data on any of my drives or is it simple?

Upgrading never means losing your data.

In most cases it's as simple as making a backup of your configuration on your flash drive then copying 2 files over (bzroot and bzimage). In some cases you need to follow additional instructions explicitly outlined in the release notes -- typically invoking a permissions script or reconfiguring users and share settings.

If your hardware will support 4.7, I would use that.

Especially if you are new to unRAID.

The beta's are test software.

While the public beta's tend to be "stable", there could be an unseen problem.
