USB device assignement and order changing very often

Featured Replies

Hi, USB device assignement and order changing very often, how ist it possible to assign fixed  /dev/ttyUSBx to USB devices ?

USB devices are plugged in to same port for month and no chaning, removing or any else dynamic actions with USB.

My most important docker for home automations ( SYMCON ) needs license assignmement after hardware changes.

Yesterday order was ttyUSB0 an ttyUSB1 and now ttyUSB2 and ttyUSB1

Docker configuration, from yesterday

and devices from today

root@server:/dev/serial/by-id# ls -l
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Feb 12 11:16 usb-Prolific_Technology_Inc._USB-Serial_Controller_AMAAn114J20-if00-port0 -> ../../ttyUSB2
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Feb 11 23:54 usb-Silicon_Labs_CP2102_USB_to_UART_Bridge_Controller_0069-if00-port0 -> ../../ttyUSB1
root@server:/dev/serial/by-id#

BTW  USB mamanger is installed and with VM´s I have no problems.

Use the by-id paths instead of the tty* ones?

Hi Kilrah,

thanks for the tip, but docker will not start with the path with complete by-id path  like /dev/serial/by-id/usb-Prolific_Technology_Inc._USB-Serial_Controller_AMAAn114J20-if00-port0
