Now all I see when I log in is below. Not sure what I can do now...

Make a backup of the flash drive and then delete the contents of /config on the flash with the exception of the "go" file and the .key file and try rebooting again

Thanks, Squid.

Will that remove my settings (like network stuff)? Also, can I do it from network or do I have to remove the USB?

  • Community Expert

It will remove all your settings, that is why you are backing it up. You definitely can't do this on a running server if that's what you mean. Put flash in your PC. You can make a backup there before you

So I did it but I'm not sure how to log back in. I can't find the machine on the network.

Are you trying to connect using IP or servername? The IP may be different than you expect because it will be using default DHCP. Can you see your server on your router?

DHCP with IPs reserved by MAC address on the router is really the best way to have known IPs. That way everything is managed in the one place that really matters.

Do you have an attached monitor and keyboard?

I looked into my router for the assignment table and I don't see the unraid machine.

Unfortunately it's running headless and it's a PITA to get it hooked up. Could I perhaps restore the flash backup and maybe try manually installing an earlier version (like 6.3 or 6.4) and upgrading from that version?

  • Community Expert

PITA may be the best way forward. That way you can boot in SAFE mode and see that it finishes booting.

I ended up manually updating to 6.9.2 and that worked. Then I was able to update to the latest version via the gui.

Weird but glad it worked!

Another problem though. Now I can't see any of the shares on windows. It opens the network location but it's completely empty.

Did you keep your configuration (config folder on flash)?

  • Community Expert

Do you have your configuration? (config folder from flash backup). If not you will have your data, but you will be setting everything up again.

New shares are not exported and since you didn't keep their cfg they are all new.

You will have to configure each of your shares.

You also won't have users, docker templates, any settings from webUI. They were all in config folder

Yep, I do have it. Which files should I copy to the flash?

Sorry, I'm not very experienced with Unraid and don't want to break all my stuff :)

Are there specific files I can copy in the config folder on the flash that will only carry over the users, shares, disks and network settings?

What did you wind up copying over.

If you want to keep as much as possible without anything breaking,

Copy everything over with the exception of all of the .plg files contained within /config/plugins

  • Author

I had copied the entire folder.

Thanks! I'll try just copying those you suggested.

This worked to preserve my settings but now I can't activate dockers.

On the settings page, I'M seeing this. Any suggestions?

Disable Docker and VM Manager in Settings for now.

Looks like you may have connection problems with cache. Fix that and then check filesystem on cache.

All your array disks are reiserfs. That is going away. You will have to convert them to xfs
