February 16, 20233 yr Hi Currently I have some problems with ethernet ports from motherboard and i would like to use my dedicated pcie network card in unraid as default and pass it down as br0 to vms . Is this possible ?
February 16, 20233 yr If I understood correctly you have a pcie network card which unraid uses as eth0; all you have to do is to go in network configuration in the unraid gui and set it to bridge; a br0 network will automatically be created and you can use it in dockers and vm; in a vm, just choose br0 and a virtual network card (if you choose virtio remember to install the drivers in the vm, or choose vmxnet3 or e1000) when you setup the vm. February 17, 20233 yr Short answer, use any network card 2.5G-100G it does not matter. (Use the Mikrotik switch with the 100G if you are wondering how to fit all that into a budget) Long answer, find one with lower power consumption which is also smaller, which can also be cooled adequately, which also has good Linux, Windows and BSD support. How long can you wait for shipping and how much money you can spend on that stuff? And why ?
February 17, 20233 yr Author I can spend up to 900 EUR. I cannot wait alot since i have variouse issue. This network issue + i have one more with a 8 m long hdmi cable which display black screen to a monitor and if a conecte a different cable it shows image. I have no idea why when i connect the hdmi the monitor don't display picture is like no signal is there.
