mephisto567 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Hello! Recently, I acquired an old HP Z800 Workstation from a friend. I plan on using it as an Unraid Server, so I bought two Xeons (X5670) and installed them, but now they are not correctly recognized by Unraid itself or a different Linux Distro I tried (EndeavourOS). My BIOS is on the latest version (3.61 Rev.A) and recognizes both CPUs without a problem. Here's what is said on the System Information Window: Quote Processor Type Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5670 @ 2.93GHz Processor Speed 2933/6400 MHz Processor Stepping 000206C2 0000001E Cache Size (L1/L2/L3) 384KB / 1536KB / 12MB Processor Type Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5670 @ 2.93GHz Processor Speed 2933/6400 MHz Processor Stepping 000206C2 0000001E Cache Size (L1/L2/L3) 384KB / 1536KB / 12MB  But when I boot into Unraid or EndeavourOS only one of two CPUs with only a single core (should be six) are recognized. The Processor Tab on the Dashboard only shows “CPU 0”. Here's the Output from lscpu: Quote Architecture: x86_64 CPU op-mode(s): 32-bit, 64-bit Address sizes: 40 bits physical, 48 bits virtual Byte Order: Little Endian CPU(s): 1 On-line CPU(s) list: 0 Vendor ID: GenuineIntel Model name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5670 @ 2.93GHz CPU family: 6 Model: 44 Thread(s) per core: 1 Core(s) per socket: 1 Socket(s): 1 Stepping: 2 Frequency boost: enabled CPU(s) scaling MHz: 109% CPU max MHz: 2927.0000 CPU min MHz: 1596.0000 BogoMIPS: 5863.08 Flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ht tm pbe syscall nx pdpe1gb rdtscp lm constant_tsc arch_perfmon pebs bts rep_good nopl xtopology nonstop_tsc cpuid aperfmperf pni pclmulqdq dtes64 monitor ds_cpl vmx smx est tm2 ssse3 cx16 xtpr pdcm pcid dca sse4_1 sse4_2 popcnt aes lahf_lm epb pti ssbd ibrs ibpb stibp tpr_shadow vnmi flexpriority ept vpid dtherm ida arat flush_l1d Virtualization: VT-x L1d cache: 32 KiB (1 instance) L1i cache: 32 KiB (1 instance) L2 cache: 256 KiB (1 instance) L3 cache: 12 MiB (1 instance) NUMA node(s): 2 NUMA node0 CPU(s): 0 NUMA node1 CPU(s): Vulnerability Itlb multihit: KVM: Mitigation: VMX disabled Vulnerability L1tf: Mitigation; PTE Inversion; VMX conditional cache flushes, SMT disabled Vulnerability Mds: Vulnerable: Clear CPU buffers attempted, no microcode; SMT disabled Vulnerability Meltdown: Mitigation; PTI Vulnerability Mmio stale data: Unknown: No mitigations Vulnerability Retbleed: Not affected Vulnerability Spec store bypass: Mitigation; Speculative Store Bypass disabled via prctl Vulnerability Spectre v1: Mitigation; usercopy/swapgs barriers and __user pointer sanitization Vulnerability Spectre v2: Mitigation; Retpolines, IBPB conditional, IBRS_FW, RSB filling, PBRSB-eIBRS Not affected Vulnerability Srbds: Not affected Vulnerability Tsx async abort: Not affected  I have also attached the Diagnostics.  What could be the issue here? Solution mephisto567 Posted February 20, 2023 Author Solution Posted February 20, 2023 Problem resolved: When comparing my BIOS Setting-Tabs with the ones in a YouTube Video I noticed that some entrys (Hyperthreading and Enabled CPU Cored to be precise) where completely missing from my BIOS Setup-Page. I then reset the BIOS Settings to factory defaults and for some reason they appeared again so I could edit them accordingly. Now everything works just fine and UnRaid shows every Core available.
