Very strange problems with user level security

Featured Replies

Hi,

I currently have two unRaid based servers. The first is based on Asus P5E-VM Do (named tower) motherboard, and the second on Gigabyte Ga-945GZM-S2 (named ira). I`ve tried today to enable user level security, to manage the accesibility to folders, and there my problems started.

At first I tried this with tower, I set user level security to enabled, and added user named "any" with single space in password, then in user shares filled the first share with: Export mode: read only; Exceptions: root; Valid user: root, any. When I set that all and pressed Apply many strange things started happening:

- Server asks me for a possword just when I try to access \\tower network localization.

- Listing folders, ang moving between them takes so long... I have to wait about 10s to be shown what files specified folder contains.

- Usually it doesn`t accept the password I`d set for 'root' or 'any' (I tottaly don`t know why?!).

After I got that issues I decided to leave that server and check the second one (I`d thought that it was an issue just with hardware of that machine), so I plugged 'ira' server and did similar steps. Exactly the same happened, except the problem with listing folders!

When I disable user level security everything comes to normal work.

I`m so confused I don`t know what to do... I gotta give the second server away, and it must be working till that tomorrow. Obviously I also want make my server 'tower' work with user level security turned on.

Have any of you ever had issues like these, or know how to solve them? I would be really glad to hear I`m just making a little stupid mistatke and it`s easy to solve...

Regards,

Maciek
