March 4, 20233 yr Is there any reason NOT to run my main cache pool in Raid 5? I see the option in Unbalance to convert it to raid 5, which would give me more usable space (3x 1tb NVME drives.) It says to "see help," but I don't see anything that really says it's a bad or good idea. I'd appreciate any help/input!
March 5, 20233 yr If I remember correctly, btrfs raid 5/6 isn't considered stable. At least historically. If you want to go this route, I would suggest you wait for unraid 6.12 which will allow zfs pools Edited March 5, 20233 yr by apandey
March 5, 20233 yr Community Expert Btrfs raid5/6 has some known issues, it can be used if you have good backups and run a scrub after any unclean shutdown, I've been using various raid5 pools for years now without major issues, but like mentioned best to wait for 6.12 and use zfs instead.
