July 27, 201114 yr I don't have a static IP assigned to my server i think. sometimes it changes because my server is shit. What can I do to fix my mac? every fix I read involves adding the IP = tower to the /etc but its not a viable longterm solution for me. Its annoying because it was working until today (I resat my router whilst the server and MBP was on). My router is 'BT Home Hub' and I can't find any options to set a static ip.
July 27, 201114 yr my router doesn't have the "static" options either. However if you pick an IP outside of the DHCP range for your router it should still work. My router's DHCP range starts at 100 - IE 192.168.1.100 and up. So I assigned .75 to unRAID and used the same gateway/subnet as the router. It works fine as long as you don't encode the same static somewhere else. FYI I have a similar issues with //tower from a win 7 machine, posted a response in the other thread on this subject.
July 27, 201114 yr Author Thanks for your reply... This is a big ask but I can't seem to understand any settings on my router to enable this. Any help/advice? I don't find an option to assign IPs to a machine.
