Tinker3436
Hello I got the following error for my drive: Device disabled, content emulated. I took down the array as soon as I saw the notification and also replugged the drive. I got the following smart report, should I replace the drive? Or what should I do? smartctl 7.3 2022-02-28 r5338 [x86_64-linux-5.19.17-Unraid] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-22, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Model Family: Seagate Barracuda 2.5 5400 Device Model: ST4000LM024-2AN17V Serial Number: WCK0GXWN LU WWN Device Id: 5 000c50 0a8d60fef Firmware Version: 0001 User Capacity: 4,000,787,030,016 bytes [4.00 TB] Sector Sizes: 512 bytes logical, 4096 bytes physical Rotation Rate: 5526 rpm Form Factor: 2.5 inches Device is: In smartctl database 7.3/5417 ATA Version is: ACS-3 T13/2161-D revision 5 SATA Version is: SATA 3.1, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s) Local Time is: Sun Mar 5 23:20:12 2023 CET SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. SMART report looks fine, likely a connection problem but can't tell for sure since diagnostics are after reboot. Diagnostics without the array started can't tell us anything about filesystems or shares. Need to see if the disabled/emulated disk has a mountable filesytem before deciding how to proceed. Start the array and post new diagnostics. Quote Link to comment
trurl
also, some Call Trace dumps while loading this plugin intel-gvt-g.plg - 2022.05.02 (Up to date) I don't use that, you might check on its support thread Quote Link to comment

Solution JorgeB Posted March 6, 2023 Solution Share Posted March 6, 2023 Emulated disk is mounting, assuming contents look correct you can rebuild on top, possibly a good idea to first replace/swap cables to rule them out if it happens again. Quote Link to comment
Tinker3436
So the drive is fine, it could be just the cables (and I should swap/replace them if it happens again?) How can I rebuild on top? I saw posts talking about errors in this process, so I don't want to mess it up. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
https://wiki.unraid.net/Manual/Storage_Management#Rebuilding_a_drive_onto_itself You can replace/swap cables before rebuilding. Quote Link to comment
Tinker3436
Thanks a lot, I just started the rebuild process! 1 Quote Link to comment
