“ Share appdata set to use pool apps, but files / folders exist on the cache pool”

Featured Replies

I can’t fix this. I’m seeing this message in fix common problems plugin. I had appdata on the cache pool but then added another nvme called apps. I switched appdata to that so the cache pool would only have unraid system files on it. I tried turning off cache, running mover, then setting it back to prefer: apps for cache. But that didn’t work. What’s the fix here? I’m going nuts. Thanks so much!

Mover only works on the pool designated for the share. You will have to set it cache:yes to get it moved to the array, then set it apps:prefer to get it moved to apps.

Also, nothing can move open files, so disable Docker in Settings until you get it all moved.

You can see how much of each disk/pool is used for the share by clicking Compute... on the User Shares page

This fixed it, thank you! Only weird thing is now the cache pool went from like 8gb to 21.5gb. The ‘apps’ nvme drive i don’t think changed much at all. When i peaked inside the cache pool it shows docker as being 20.5gb. Thoughts?

Probably what you really want, in addition to appdata, is system and domains shares also apps:prefer

You also have to disable VM Manager in Settings so system and domains shares can be moved.

But do you know why it went from 8gb to 21.5gb just because i did the above? I’m so confused about that. Also, do i keep VM manager off? I don’t think i use any VMs. Additionally, i wanted the apps cache drive for just plex and the other docked containers. I wanted the other cache pool for all the unraid system stuff, so do i still set those to apps:prefer? Thanks for answering all my questions.

If you don't then there is no good reason to enable VM Manager. And it has to be disabled to allow system share to move.

Any cache:prefer shares that had files on the array would have been moved to cache. Since I don't have diagnostics from before don't know exactly.

Thanks, strangely it went back to 8-9gb the other day. So who knows. 🤔
