Disk with read errors - quik SMART test shows everything is OK

Featured Replies

Hi!

This morning I woke up to a message "array has 1 disk with read errors" Disk 5 had 1850 erorrs.

I did open the case yesterday, I didn't touch drives, but I shut the machine down and made sure that all sata cables are sitting in properly.

Booted up unraid and started parity check, quickly I got the same message again. I'm posting here the diagnostics. I've also started extended SMART self-test, but as it take ages - maybe someone can tell me based on diagonstics if I should just order a new drive.

Thank you!

When you checked the cabling did you also check the power cabling (and avoid the use of splitters if possible)?

That disk failed an extended SMART test so that is normally a very strong indication that it should be replaced.

That disk should be replaced.

Wow! The test probably failed between me starting it and exporting the diagnostics. Thank you for quick help.
