LXZ1982
Hi guys, I'd like to ask for your recommendation regarding a PCIe3 HBA. The Hardware I currently have is: Core i3-7100 Supermicro X11SSL-F 32 GB Single-bit ECC Chenbro RM41416 16-bay rackmount case 2 parity disks 11 HDDs, some 3TB but most 4TB 2 Sata SSD as a redundant cache pool and what I am looking to replace: 2 LSI SAS2008 HBAs which connect to the chenbro backplane which has the 11 array HDDs and the 2 parity HDDs. The reason for wanting to replace the two PCIe2 HBAs for one PCIe3 HBA is mainly the attempt to optimize the HDD performance of the arrays. Also, which is a minor thing, is that the Chenbro case's drive LEDs only work for the first 8 HDDs, not the remaining 8. I suspect this is because of the two HBAs. So, I would love to hear your recommendations regarding which HBA to get. Thank you! Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
You can get an LSI 9300-8i but don't expect any performance gains with hard drives, only with SSDs would you be able to use the extra bandwidth. Quote Link to comment
