Joda_2
Hello, I am thinking about building a 3rd Unraid system to save some power. Currently I have a storage server with HDDs and cache SSDs in 24/7 operation and a backup server in 20/1 operation, the backup server is otherwise in sleep mode, thanks to the S3 plugin (I think that's about the name of it). Server configurations are below. My thought now was to power up the storage server only when needed, or out of sleep mode from the S3 plugin and thus no longer running 24/7 and to expand the SSDs. I would keep the backup server running as usual. And then for 24/7 availability I would build a 3rd Unraid server with a low engery CPU. Does it make sense to build a 3rd server with the configuartion and run it like this ? 8gb RAM should be enough or not? Does the CPU do that or is it clearly too weak? Do I have through the CPU performance problems? All servers are intended only as SMB share and the server with 24/7 operation still FTP server. Configurations: Storage Server: - CPU: Intel i3 2100 - RAM: 2x 8gb DDR3 - Array: 2x Paritiy HDD & 4x Storage HDD - Cache: 2x SSDs in RAID - Controllercard: SATA Card Backup Server: - CPU: Intel Pentium G3220 - RAM: 2x 8gb DDR3 - Array: 1x Paritiy HDD & 3x Storage HDD - Cache: no - Controllercard: no 3. server (planned): - CPU: AMD GX-222GC or AMD GX-217GA or AMD E1-2500 - RAM: 1x 8gb DDR3 or 2x 4gb DDR3 - Array: 1x Paritiy SSD & 1x Storage SSD - Cache: no - Controllercard: no Quote Link to comment
