Moving unraid install

Featured Replies

I have an old rackmounted server that the wife is finally making me get rid of for noise and space purposes.  I currently have unraid running with 12 drives, ranging from 2 tb up to 10.  I'm setting up a new server that will condense these drives and just use 10tb ones.  I'm out of physical drive space (as in physical space to put the drives) on the old server, so I can't add the new drives and just copy stuff over to the new drives.  I was thinking about setting up a trial version of unraid, copying everything over to the new box, and then seeing if I might be able to migrate that trial version to my paid license. I have enough new drives to copy over all of my data, and then I was going to take the 10 tb drives currently holding data and add them back to the new array after the data has been transferred.

I'm kind of excited about starting over from scratch with unraid, and have a lot of plans for how I want to upgrade things, especially since I have a good reason and chance to start everything over (as long as I keep my data).  Does anyone have any suggestions?
