hal5400
HI hope this is the right area to post this. (unraid newbie here!) I recently added x2 240gb ssd to be used for cache (1 for backup) I've installed them ok and they show up however the 2nd cache drive (I've called cache_backup) has nothing on it. It doesn't seem to be backing anything what's on the main cache drive. I've changed my app data shares etc. to use cache but no luck! do u have any ideas? Thanks in advance Quote Link to comment
trurl
You have created a separate pool named cache_backup instead of adding a 2nd drive to your cache pool. Quote Link to comment

hal5400
It was my impression that having a 2nd ssd cache drive should backup the 1st ssd cache drive but that doesn’t appear to be happening as the 2nd cache backup drive is empty and I can’t figure out why. Quote Link to comment
Kilrah
Because you made a new separate pool with the 2nd drive instead of adding the 2nd drive to the same pool as the first. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
You can have a mirrored pool, but for for that both members need to be assigned to the same pool, also please note that it's not a backup, it just adds redundancy in case of a device failure. Quote Link to comment

I wasn’t aware that I added a second pool I just stuck the drive in and named it cache_backup. I thought unraid was supposed to just do it’s thing and naturally create a raid 1 environment from that 2nd ssd drive. So how do I fix it ? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Unassign the cache_backup SSD, start array, stop array, change slots to 2 for cache, assign the SSD to cache2, start array. Quote Link to comment
