How many containers do you have?

Around 40 right now.

So I think not affected of the settings-does-not-save issue.

the script does not do anything eating ram. Some docker container seems to freak out. No idea why.

can you see with the docker command line of that affected process, which source container this is? htop should show some infos for that process.

Sorry, I didn't post the screenshot earlier. There is no one particular docker which consume RAM. Seems it is the docker itself, as all of the processes share the same amount memory.Zrzutekranu2025-01-01143338.thumb.png.7a635e4e90218fecb3c7a0f623ff8a67.png

Do you have a ZFS filesystem by chance? I wrote a custom script for this plug-in that reduces downtime for each docker to less than a second thanks to utilizing ZFS snapshots. I've been using it for three months now, works great for me, hopefully someone else can find it useful as well.

No, my appdata's on a single XFS drive. Maybe I'll look into ZFS when I upgrade to 7.

Hello.

When scheduled parity check runs using this plugin, i get a notification

Scheduled Non-Correcting Parity-Check (58.8% completed)

[AMN] Scheduled Non-Correcting Parity-Check finished (0 errors)

Why it's called Non-Correcting Parity-Check?

I have "Write corrections to parity disk" set to Yes

The report is almost certainly correct as that message is generated by looking at the running check, and there is a bug in that the setting for the check to be correcting is being ignored.    You can easily check this by looking in the syslog for the ‘mdcmd’ entry in the syslog to see if it specifies it is is correcting.    You could also look at cron entry in /etc/cron.d/root to see the command that is scheduled to run.

Any exclusions set?

Sorry for the late reply, I was traveling. Ah yes that was it! At some point I must have set /mnt/user/ as en exclusion for fear it would back up everything but I realize disabling external volumes avoids that. all fixed now, thank you!!

I have had problems with a spare cache drive I used to use. Now i removed it, backing up file before. Unfortunately all my appdata is gone. Have 2 backups from this app from last of december, but it says source seems invalid when i restore. There is nothing in log, as it does not do anything. Have can I switch it on? Anything else i can do? The files are in tar.gz format + the .xml and .bak files. Really desperate

Source really valid? Check help text, point to the folder with the ab_ folders inside.

manual mode: use tar to unpack the tar.gz files and restore manually.

Hi so i was cleaning up things today and i noticed my appdata-backup backup file was massive!  around 6TB!  My actual appdata folder is less the 15GB!  Where are these extra files coming from?
The *.zst files for Krusader and Plex are surprisingly huge (5.2TB and almost 1TB respectively)...i don't even have that much in my media folder that plex looks too!  The backup files seem to have ballooned the last couple of backups, whilst nothing has really changed on the server!  It doesn't make sense that CA Appadata-backup is backing up my media (i don't understand how since its only pointing to the appdata folder...nothing else).  And how is the krusder backup pushing 6TB!?!?!?  that seems insane!

image.thumb.png.3b1499e03ffa097e1f214efd926007f3.png

Again, the actual app data folders for these are tiny (as expected).

Trying to figure this out cuz its gobbled up my backup pool space!
THX!

Should be valid, as the plugin created it, said with no errors.

Noob question: If I use manual mode and get it unpacked (perhaps with krusader) what do I do with the xml and bak files?

Just installed the plugin, love it. Thank you for creating it. Everything seems to work quite well with the minor hiccup that qbittorrent would could not be automatically restarted. However, I was able to manually restart it without an issue. The logs say

Not sure why it would need to delete the image and not sure what other container could be using that image? Debug dfa77972-8c34-418a-9e95-75304a57ffcd

But it seems to have trouble to use the select parent folder. Could you share a screenshot with the restore UI and one with the contents of that selected folder?

the .baks: not sure when unraid creates them, can probably be discarded.

Probably bad config where you made that container back up external volumes, or changed the appdata sources to include stuff it shouldn't so everything appears as internal

Do you have Update containers after backup enabled?

They aren't anymore, they were made by old versions AFAIK

I have triple checked that the only thing that is being backed up is the flash USB, libvert, and appdata folder...and that folder is only a couple GB!  Is there a way i can open up that .zst file and see whats inside?  7zip, winrar etc do not recognise it (i kinda miss the old version that seemed much easier to look at the backups...or i'm doing it wrong).

Disable multicore and you have tar.gz. zst gets created when multicore compression is enabled.

However, check the log, maybe there are some hints. External volume backups? Whats the source paths configured?

Share a debug log, that should reveal the issue.

I did enable that (in hopes for smaller files)...is there no way (PC software) to open those file types?  is the compression even worth it?

only "/mnt/user/appdata"  (and as i stated, the folder in that location are a fraction of the size of the backups).

I DO NOT have anything in the "Include extra files/folders" section neither.

I am assuming there would be only a log after a backup (and gets deleted after reboot)?  I cant find the log as listed otherwise.  (i will do a manual backup and report back)

UPDATE:
FYI: b43ce314-661f-4de5-874d-9e24bba9a28b (debug log ID) (i cant seem to find it in /tmp...)

So the manual backup didn't seem to create the huge krusader backup file (and the plex backup seems logical given the number of meta data files it would have...although i think i need to figure out how to clean that, cuz the appdata folder still seems larger then it should be, but that's not the backup plugins fault).

So i donno why the auto backup created the big bloat, but manualy seems normal (6GB for manual, and the auto was over 6TB)!  ONLY thing i can think of, is the backup ran while i was moving files around with krusader?  just a guess (not sure how krusader handles temp files while moving things).

I did notice that some of the older backups (i keep 6 versions) were floating around 1tb, which also seems larger then they should be...

Thx for the reply. And struggling to unrar the files manually, seems I need to use console manually :(

You must select the "backup-2" folder, NOT the individual backup. Next step will list the available backups to restore from.

Current Win11 supports it natively, there's also a fork of 7-zip with ZST support https://github.com/mcmilk/7-Zip-zstd

Issue if you have a TB-sized zst is you'll need enough space to store the uncompressed tar before you can see its contents.
