renewing license error - SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected non-whitespace character after JSON data at line 1 column 2 of the JSON data

my flash decided to no longer boot properly, created a new flash from a recent backup, got back into unraid and selected replace a key, when going through the final confirmation, i get this error. can any one advise, 

tried in firefox and chrome.

That can happen if the flash drive was replaced in the last year, i.e., not eligible for an automated replacement, you'll need to contact support.

I had a similar error when trying to replace my key but not with a different position after moving flash drives from a 64gb flash drive to a 16gb. I trying installing the backup key and the first one that was given to me as well.
