givmedew
So, I have a server and I thought I was pulling out a drive that I was getting rid of but it was the wrong drive. So now I have a drive that says it is disabled and emulated. Do I have to completely rebuild this drive or is there a way to put it back into play? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
If the emulated disk is mounting and contents look correct we usually recommend rebuilding, alternative would be doing a new config and a correcting parity check, but it will take the same amount of time and it's riskier. Michael_P
If it's a single parity system, personally I'd do a new config if rebuilding on top of the same drive is your only option. Losing another disk during the rebuild would suck twice as much Quote Link to comment
Frank1940
The instructions for removing disks should be modified to state that the serial number of the disk physically removed from the array should be verified against the serial number of the disk being 'unassigned' before the array is restarted. (It seems we are seeing this problem far too often...) Quote Link to comment
