New WD20EARS and "» udma_crc_error_count=1"

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I've started transferring some files over to my unRAID server and I noticed in MyMain that my data drive (only have one in at the moment) had the following error under "Additional Issues/Failures"

» udma_crc_error_count=1

The drive is brand new and it went through quite a few preclears with no issues (about 7).

unRAID had started a parity check earlier today, but I stopped it because I wanted to transfer more files over this evening before it ran. Did my stopping the parity check cause this?

Anything I need to worry about with this HDD?

Thanks!

That error generally indicates an issue with the drive's cabling.  Perhaps you precleared it on a different set of cables?  Often just reseating the cable connection is enough to solve it, but in some cases the cable needs to be replaced.

If this is a one-time error, then it is nothing to worry about.  If it keeps recurring then you need to take action.

This value will never go back down to zero. As Raj says, it should not continue to increase.  myMain is just trying to make you aware of SMART attribute values early so that you research them before they become problems.
