LSI SAS HBA card is preventing reaching a lower C-State

I've been trying to reduce the idle power consumption of my server and found out about Powertop. The CPU has only being reaching C2 and is idle at 40w. If I remove the LSI card, it reaches C7 and idles at 13w. I've turned on every setting in the bios related power save. Is there any way to make this card play nice as I need the extra sata connections. The card is a INSPUR 9211-8i.

Did you work out a solution to this? I am having the same issue

According to this thread C2 is the lowest power mode possible in a system with a HBA card installed:

 

 

But...

It seems not to be the case when a SATA card is used:
