noVNC clipboard copy/paste?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to have clipboard copy/paste functionality work from/to a Windows VM over noVNC? I occasionally need to remote into a Windows VM through a Cloudflare tunnel from PCs I cannot install additional software. noVNC web client works perfectly for my needs except for the lack of copy/paste. Is there any way I can get copy/paste working without installing 3rd party software on the remote client PC ?

Thanks.

I have added into 6.12 which version of the unraid os are you running?

I would need to check which version you need to have for this to work or you can try the following.

<channel type='qemu-vdagent'>
	<source>
	  <clipboard copypaste='yes'/>
	  <mouse mode='client'/>
 	 </source>
	<target type='virtio' name='com.redhat.spice.0'/>
</channel>

You need to install the following also in the VM.

If you enable copy paste you need to install additional software on the client in addition to the QEMU agent if that has been installed.

https://www.spice-space.org/download.html is the location for spice-vdagent for both window and linux.

Note copy paste function will not work with web spice viewer you need to use virt-viewer.

Thanks for your reply. I’m running 6.11.5.

When I was looking for an answer I did come across this VM manager release log for 6.12 RC3 about that announcement. But I assumed

meant I need to install the virt-viewer on the remote PC, which is what I want to avoid.

Do you know if this new copy/paste feature works over the noVNC web client or some other browser based client (if there are any) ?

Yes it works for VNC. It is just the spice webclient does not support it so you have to use a pc based client if you want to use spice.

Hi,

Have had some issues with this in 6.11.5 and now 6.12.0.  Sometimes when trying to paste into a w10 VM the whole VM instantly shuts down. Seems to be specific to Spice as when no copy/paste is set in the VM config it never crashes.
Windows event in the VM has no entrys, and I didnt see anything in the KVM log either.  But I'll try and capture it again.
