Removing a Drive

Hello Everyone , newb here I made a unraid server . added drives proved my concept worked (5 drives ranging from 60GB to 8TB) now I'm happy with how it works I want to set it up correctly E.G adding bigger drives and a pool drive . Currently the data is just test data so I can lose it all. The question I have is how do I remove drives I unplugged one and started the server and I had the note saying configuration invalid . The question is how to you remove a drive or replace a drive ? I will add a pool drive at some stage but don't truly need one for the set up.
