swamiforlife
I have an array of 28 Data disks and 2 parity disks. Both parity disks are 16tb. I want to replace both with 20TB drives. Also. i have a 4x 10TB data disks that i want to replace with 4x new 16TB drives (not the current parity drives) The data on the existing 4x 10TB disks is not important because it has been copied to other data disks in the array. So, if i use the new config tool to replace the parity disks and the 4x data disks at the same time, will that be allowed. I understand that there will be no parity protection while the new parity is being built. But can all these changes be made at once? Also will my existing shares remain intact? Quote Link to comment
Solution itimpi Posted April 24, 2023 Solution Share Posted April 24, 2023 You can change as many disks as you like after using New Config. Any data on existing disks being kept will be left intact. Any data on drives being removed will no longer be there. Shares will remain intact, but you may have to make adjustments if you have set includes/excludes to match the new set of drives.
