stuttering during avi playback with beta 10

HI there, don't know what suddenly changed, but my unraid server is suddenly having issues streaming media. I have a i3-540 processor with 4gb of ram, Asus P7H55-M LX, 2 TB drives (all green) with 5 beta 10. However for the last week or so every time I am watching a avi file it is stuttering every few min and it takes about 30-60 sec for it to recover. It's extremely annoying. However when I stream mkv files it does not appear to be stuttering as much. Any help is greatly appreciated. This is running over a wired 100mb it network.
